Howard: My muscles were the most developed during the Magic period. Later, my joints couldn t bear it and I started to lose weight like crazy.

Recently, Howard talked about his weight loss on his podcast Above The Rim with DH 12.

"In Orlando, I weighed 285 pounds (129kg). At that time, I gained muscle and exercise like crazy, and even built a gym at home, but I only did four exercises: bench press, squat, deadlift and leg curl. When I first entered the league, I was very skinny and the competition was very fierce at that time. My opponents were all big guys like Tim Duncan, they were tall and strong, so I realized I had to get stronger. In order to To build up strength for the fight, I started training more, which made my muscles stronger. However, as I grew older, I found that my body and joints could no longer bear such a heavy weight. So, I started to lose weight later in my career. I once lost 30 pounds (13.6kg) in 30 days, from 285 pounds to about 255 pounds.
