The salary dispute case between Mbappe and Paris Saint-Germain opened last night. Both parties insisted on their own opinions. Mbappe demanded compensation of 260 million euros from Paris, while Paris countersued for 440 million euros. "Team Daily" wrote an article analyzing the inside story of the amount claimed by both parties.
The Paris Labor Arbitration Court is hearing a salary contract dispute involving 700 million euros. The hearing has been packed since Monday afternoon, with members of the public and reporters filling the already small reception room as the amount of money claimed by both sides in PSG's high-profile dispute with Kylian Mbappe was revealed.
Mbappe’s claim against Paris Saint-Germain exceeds 260 million euros. The most important ones include: 44.6 million euros in unjustified dismissal compensation, 40.4 million euros in signing bonus (including holiday allowance), 37.5 million euros in hidden work compensation, 25.7 million euros in statutory dismissal compensation, and 19 million euros in wages from April to June 2024.
Paris Saint-Germain then stepped up its counterattack and demanded 440 million euros from the former captain. Mbappe's two lawyers said after the trial that this "ridiculous, crazy and unprecedented" amount included "the value of the subject matter that Paris failed to realize" because the player did not incur a transfer fee when he moved to Real Madrid in 2024, and Paris paid 180 million euros when he introduced him from Monaco.
This 180 million euros is not the actual amount of compensation, but is reflected in the "loss of transfer opportunities" in the amount Paris claims against Mbappe. Paris also demands another 180 million euros in compensation on the grounds of "damage to loyalty in contract negotiations." But the two charges actually refer to one act, and even if a judge sided with Paris, it would be nearly impossible for the payments to accrue.
The remaining compensation amount includes 60 million euros related to "contract performance loyalty" - Paris believes that Mbappe has not complied with it, and 20 million euros for "reputation and image damage".
In this case, Paris accused Mbappé of concealing the decision not to renew the contract for 11 months, causing Paris to miss out on high transfer benefits. The club also believes that it has reached an agreement with Mbappe in the summer of 2023, agreeing to give up part of the balance of the contract if he leaves the team on a free agency. However, the players' team rejected this verbal agreement and insisted that the club refused to pay.
The verdict of the case will be announced on December 16.
