According to World Sports News, Barcelona is actively seeking opportunities to increase the club's income. One of the ways is to participate in friendly matches with generous rewards.
Recently, Barcelona received a proposal to travel to Peru for a friendly match in December this year, and consulted relevant organizations (La Liga, Spanish Football Federation, Spanish Football Players Association) to confirm whether it is feasible. After all, players have the right to enjoy the Christmas vacation.
Barcelona currently has two options: one is to go to Peru for a friendly match, and the other is to play a friendly match in Morocco. It is worth mentioning that Barcelona had received an invitation to play a friendly match in Casablanca this summer, but ultimately did not accept it because Barcelona was about to go to South Korea and Japan for the Asian tour.
Now, with both options on the table, the Barcelona board needs to make a decision as soon as possible. According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona internally believes that traveling to Morocco for a friendly match is more feasible because the round trip from Barcelona to Morocco can be completed within 24 hours, which means the team can depart in the morning and return in the evening.
In comparison, the distance to Lima, the capital of Peru, is longer, which makes arranging games more difficult, especially before the players' Christmas vacation. In addition, there will be a league match against Espanyol on January 3 or 4, 2026. Going to Peru to play will leave very limited time for Barcelona players to rest.
Nonetheless, Barcelona has made it clear that it will consider both proposals carefully because they both provide considerable compensation. Regarding the Peruvian proposal, the remuneration is expected to be between 7 million and 8 million euros.
