To be honest, it was not easy, because I devoted almost half of my life to one club and one city for 13 years. It was one of the best times in my life. I was 27 when I came to Real Madrid, maybe relatively late but at the right time, and I was ready for this step. The four years I spent in England helped me a lot, and what I experienced and achieved at Real Madrid was like a dream.

In addition to trophies and wins, I stayed at this club for 13 years... I came here at the age of 27 and stayed here until I was almost 40. This is incredible! Everyone knows what kind of club Real Madrid are and they cannot tolerate mediocrity. To be able to maintain such a high level for so many years and achieve so much success at a club like this is unbelievable. I used to think I would be satisfied if I could retire at 35, but my career has long exceeded that expectation, and for that I am very grateful. Thank God I'm still at this level, it's incredible!
Regarding the idea of playing at Real Madrid until retirement
I have always said this. This is not a polite comment, nor is it a flattery to the fans or the club. My biggest wish is to retire at Real Madrid, but everything comes to an end.
About coming to Italy to join Milan
Milan is such a great city! People have welcomed me in a great way, both inside and outside the club. The teammates, the coaches, the fans, everything was at a high level.
