In the third round of the Champions League, Ekitic scored to help Liverpool beat Frankfurt. In an interview after the game, he talked about his feelings against his old club.
Ekitic said: "I have to do this (goal against my old club), it feels great, it's special to be back here, I would say it's home. I know everyone here, so this is a special game for me, to be able to win and score my goal I'm really happy with my first goal in the Champions League."
Talking about the goal, Ekitic said: "I just kept calm and tried my best. I knew the goalkeeper would jump on me and spread my legs, so I tried to hit it between the legs."
