According to Daily Sports, next season (after La Liga and Serie A) Spanish third-tier league will allow video replays if one side has requested it.

The Spanish third-tier league next season will be equipped with an FVS video assistance system, which is quite different from the current version used in La Liga and Spanish Second Division. It has been approved by the International Football Association Council (IFAB, the agency responsible for formulating international football rules). It is not only cheaper, but also does not require video assistant referees to intervene. Compared with traditional VAR systems, FVS does not require complex infrastructure support. The system has been used in some low-level international competitions, such as the U20 and U17 Women's World Youth Championship.

Under the FVS system, the referee will review the specific disputed action only when the coach of one of the teams applies. The specific rules are as follows:

Each team has 2 applications per game;

If the game enters overtime (such as an upgraded play-off), an additional application opportunity will be added;

If the application is successful (i.e., the dispute penalty is corrected), the team will retain the number of applications;

If the application fails, the opportunity is consumed.

This video assist system can be applied in four scenarios: goal-related disputes, penalty penalty disputes, direct red card disputes, and misjudgment of player identity. In addition, in the next few days, the Spanish Football Association will decide whether to use the FVS system in the Spanish Women's Football League.
