Dortmund legend Kevin Groskreutz recommended himself as the stadium commentator to replace Norbert Dicker.
37-year-old Groskreuz expressed this wish on his podcast show "Fourth of Football" and reiterated his love for the club and his desire for the job in an interview with Biography.
He said: "This is not a casual talk. Dortmund is my life and I am willing to work hard on it."
Norbert Dicker, currently the commentator of the Dortmund Stadium, recently revealed that he is considering resigning from the position sometime in the future. Dicker, who will turn 64 this year, said: "I don't want to wait until they carry me out of the stadium before leaving. I'm already thinking about this."
Dickel has been a stadium commentator in Dortmund for 33 years, and is also working on commentary for the club's online radio station. Despite this, he still said he enjoyed the job very much, "I love everything I do." However, he also realized that he would eventually retire.
This is undoubtedly a huge challenge for Groskreuz, who may take over this important task. He said: "I like to stand on the grass and face 80,000 spectators, but just talking to them through speakers is another matter. But I believe that with Norbert's help, I can do the job." The 2014 World Cup champion joked, "Of course, I have to always pay attention to my words, especially when some opponents come to our stadium." Born in Dortmund, Groskreuitz played for Dortmund from 2009 to 2015, and won two Bundesliga titles and one German Cup in the meantime.
