French media rmcsport reported that Nantes head coach Luis Castro was seriously injured in a friendly match with the coaching staff on Thursday. The initial suspicion is a torn cruciate ligament, and he needs to undergo further examination as soon as possible.

Usually, during international match days, coaches will be worried about players being injured. But in Nantes, the opposite is true: the players will face losing their head coach.

According to French Western French newspaper Les de France on Friday, Castro may have suffered a serious knee injury in an impromptu game with the coaching staff on Thursday. According to regional media reports, the former Dunkirk coach appeared at the Nantes 1-1 Le Mans game on Friday wearing protective gear.

It is currently suspected that Castro might have just sprained his knee, but further examinations may reveal a more serious injury as there are concerns that it may be a cruciate ligament tear. In the next week, Nantes will play against Nice in the league, and they are currently ranked 13th in Ligue 1.

Ligue 1 coaches don't seem to have a smooth start on this international match day. Paris Saint-Germain coach Louis Enrique fell while riding a bicycle on Friday, causing a fractured collarbone, and the club said he will undergo surgery.
